Fire detection by using computer vision techniques

Each unmanaged fire or emergency events caused by the fire has a significant potential tocause extensive damage on a property or human lives. Therefore, early fire detection is essential in every environment, especially in places with the great movement of people. The traditional fire detection sensors have some drawbacks - they need separate systems, hard to use in an industrial environment, etc. Fire detection in a video stream is one of the possible solutions suitable for replacement/supplement of convention fire detection sensors. Computer vision methods include a variety of methods and principles suitable for fire detection. Furthermore, each method and principle could be used in a different way. This lecture brings a brief overview of common computer vision principles used in published algorithms.
